Imagine!
Imagine having not just great distance vision, but what if you could have great vision at close range as well, just like you had when you were younger? Buckley Chang Eye Institute is proud to offer a vision correction procedure that does it all!
Wouldn't it be nice?
Are you tired of reading glasses or bifocals? What if you could focus on things up close and have great distance vision, and you could have it without wearing lenses of any kind? Wouldn't that be wonderful? What if you could not only see to drive and enjoy beautiful scenery, but you could also read the newspaper, the menu at a restaurant, price tags and labels on items at the store, the computer screen and your dashboard, and put on your makeup, all without wearing lenses? Well, wish no more!
Buckley Chang offers vision correction procedures that incorporate multi-focal intra-ocular lens (IOL) technology that results in patients having permanent close up, as well as distance vision. How would you like the close up vision you had when you were younger! With multi-focal IOL vision technology you'll be able to see the way you want to see. Near, intermediate, and distance effortlessly, and naturally! And you'll be able to see all these things, without lenses of any kind!
What is a Multi-focal Intraocular Lens or IOL?
The multi-focal IOL is one of the most amazing scientific developments in recent years. The lens replaces your eye's natural lens when aging or cataracts begin to impair your vision. Multi-focal lenses have the ability to focus on objects both close up as well as distance without bifocals, progressive lenses, or reading glasses. More advanced IOLs that provide near vision and distance vision are called "accommodating IOLs". These lenses move slightly within the eye, accommodating themselves to provide near or distance vision. The vast majority of patients who receive accommodating IOLs report no need to wear glasses at all.

How do Multi-focal IOLs work?
When you look at an object up close, (such as the newspaper) the multi-focal IOL will automatically focus the object onto your retina. You don't have to do anything to make the lens work, and since there is nothing mechanical about the lens, there is nothing to wear out or get weak with old age.
So it works just like you want it to work; the way you used to be able to focus when you were younger! It provides excellent close up vision for reading books and the newspaper, as well as excellent distance vision for driving, sports, and sight seeing. It also provides functional intermediate vision so you can see the computer, the dashboard, and yourself in the mirror. It's natural, its permanent, and it is wonderful!
What is the surgical procedure?
The procedure is very similar to cataract surgery, and is performed in an outpatient surgical facility. It is accomplished on one eye at a time with a two-week time interval between each procedure. The actual surgery usually takes less than 15 minutes. Once the surgery is complete, drops will be placed in your eye to prevent infection, and decrease inflammation. A clear patch will be placed over your eye and someone will need to drive you home.
Your close up and distance vision will usually be good the day after surgery. However, your vision will improve over the next week or two, and will dramatically improve after the second eye procedure is accomplished.
How good is vision with Multi-Focal IOLs?
Each of our IOLs have been designed to focus at near and at distances. While virtually everyone will experience a significant improvement in their near and distance vision, some people will not see perfectly at all distances.
The multi-focal intra-ocular lenses we use in the procedure are FDA approved and provide excellent distance, and near vision as well as functional intermediate vision. Our experience has shown us which lens to use for each patient depending on various visual and physical factors.
What is most exciting is that all of our patients can pass their drivers test, can read books, newspapers and magazines, and most of our patients lead lives of total visual freedom without the need for glasses or contact lenses, ever!
Multi-focal IOLs have already changed the lives of thousands of people in America, and around the world. It will change your life too!
Who is a candidate for Multi-Focal Intraocular Lenses? The procedure is for patients over 50 who need distance and close up correction and anyone who has cataracts. Patients over 60 who only need reading glasses may also be a candidate. Our detailed examination will determine if you are physically qualified.
