Dry Eye Relief

Dry EyeHere in Colorado, dry eyes are a common problem for many people. Contact lenses, certain medications, medical conditions, and the aging process are all causes of dry eyes. Eye drops and humidifiers help a little, but dry eye relief is usually temporary. There is a simple non-surgical procedure that provides long-term relief of Dry Eye that involves the use of permanent, yet removable plugs called punctum plugs. Punctum plugs       have a very high rate of success; and they can be inserted easily and painlessly by an eye care professional. The idea is simple. Tiny silicone plugs are inserted into your tear drainage ducts (puncta) where they act as  a dam. Therefore, your tears have no place to go but onto the surface of your eyes! Punctum plugs are also indicated for many patients having LASIK surgery since keeping the eyes moist is important during the healing process. If a Touch Tear MicroAssay™ analysis is performed and it is determined that the Lactoferrin protein level in your tears is low, your health insurance may pay for most of the procedure.
